Welcome
The UC Berkeley Karate Club practices traditional Japanese karate under the direction of Sensei Hidetaka Abe. Sensei Abe has been teaching karate at Cal since 1967, fostering a cooperative and friendly atmosphere for the pursuit of martial arts excellence. Our club is affiliated with Japan Karatedo Federation Wado-Kai.

Prospective members can best learn about the club by attending a training session at no cost. Our two week free trial provides time to evaluate whether the club meets your expectations. We welcome students of all karate styles and all levels of experience, from beginners to black belts, to join our club at any time!
